~ The adolescents with history of physical abuse appeared to have a higher risk for both suicidal behavior and psychiatric disturbances (anxious/ depressed, delinquent behavior and aggressive behavior)

~ The presence of psychiatric disturbances remarkably increased the risks for suicidal behaviors (odds ratio 6.91-7.98), but it couldn’t fully explain the increased risk of suicidal behavior among the youths with family history of physical abuse, as the family history of physical abuse appeared to increase the risk for suicidal behavior (odds ratio 2.57-2.73) too.

~ Adolescents who had the experience of parental divorce were not particularly at risk for suicidal behaviors.

~ Adolescents who perceived the family as conflicting significantly increased the risk for suicidal behaviors (odds ratio 2.38-3.13) but the lower risk for those perceived the family as cohesive (odds ratio 0.32-0.52).

~ The family support programs should be promoted for addressing the mental health problems of the family.

~ People should be trained to help and identify the youths at risk of suicide and psychiatric disturbances and then take intervention.

~ Pay attention on the potential families or youths who have the history of previous suicide attempts
