~ Mathematical Performance: Hong Kong ranks 3rd to 5th among the 65 participating countries and the score(494) is lower than Shanghai and Singapore.

~ Reading Performance: Hong Kong ranks 2nd to 5th among the 65 participating countries and the score (545) is lower than Shanghai.

~ Scientific Performance: Hong Kong ranks 2nd to 4th among the 65 participating countries and regions and the score (501) is significantly lower than Shanghai, Singapore and Japan.

~ Comparing the performance to the past PISA: the mean score in mathematical literacy, scientific literacy and reading literacy in 2012 are higher than the score in PISA 2006.

~ Gender: In Mathematics, the boys performs significantly better than girls in 36 countries out of 65 countries and regions and on average eleven points higher than girls across OECD. In Reading literacy, girls perform significantly better than boys in all countries and regions since PISA 2000.
