~ Significant bivariate relationships were found between depressive symptomatology and three dimensions of emotional autonomy (individuation, nondependency on parents, and deidealization of parents. (.6≧∣r∣≧.01, p<.05)

~ No significant association was found between individuation, nondependency on parents, and deidealization of parents and all other socio-demographic characteristics of young people. (R2 =0.12)

~ The result of multiple regression analysis indicate that depressive symptomatology is positively associated with the scores on the Individuation and Deidealization of Parents (p<.05, R2 = .12). This is in accordance with the previous findings that these two aspects of emotional autonomy are positively related to depressive symptimatology in American young people.
