| 主要數字、結果撮要 | ~ Different types of abuse, namely negative home environment/neglect, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and physical abuse, have adverse mental health impacts on adolescents. All the 4 types of abuse were significantly related to all kinds of psychological problems being studied, namely internalizing problems, externalizing problems, self-esteem, suicidal ideation, suicidal attempt, and self-harm. ~ Emotional abuse leads to a more negative mental health outcome than physical abuse to local adolescents. ~ Among the 4 types of abuse being studied, negative home environment/neglect and emotional abuse were found to have the greatest correlation and odds ratio with all psychological problems under study, except suicidal attempt which was found to have the highest correlation with sexual abuse. |
| 有關建議 | ~ To increase people’s knowledge on abuse to facilitate it’s detection by conducting public education talks,leaflets,mass media). ~ Input parents with non-coercive parenting and personal coping skills.(praises,tangible rewards,depriving privilegesand time-out) ~ Follow-up through home-visitation prevention programs by social workers. |
